social impact on those without access to the internet.

I would like to write a big long post about how much those without the internet and how they are missing out on all the amazing benefits on the internet, but the more I rack my brain about the topic the more that word “social” pops into my mind. In my opinion, there is only social benefit from not having the internet. Before moving to the UK I did not have a computer, laptop, iphone, internet etc. Nor did most of my mates, we spent our times going out and socializing, playing sport, going to the beach or just chilled out with a small group of mates talking S*%# for hours on end. The only time we would look at our phones would be to answer a call or to read a text, not like today were everyone sits on their phones in a room and call that socializing, to actually meet someone you would actually meet them, not friend them on social media. So at the end of the day, I preferred my social lifestyle before I got the internet. Let me know what you think and comment back.

  1. What about all the poor "saddos" with hundreds of facebook "Friends" - do they have any real close friends?

    1. I completely agree with you, id like to see Facebook implement a new feature, breaking the "freinds" into friends/acquaintances/randoms

    2. I have a lot of friends on facebook, a lot of which I do actually know and the vast majority I have met more than once, just because you have a lot of facebook friends doesn't mean you have no real friends, I still have my group of close friends which I meet every day.

    4. No, making a point that not everybody has "loads of friends on facebook" and doesn't actually have any friends outside of facebook.

  2. In my opinion not having the internet is good as it gets you out there and doesn't make you feel like a 'robot'. Me preferably I would rather meet with a group of friends having a laugh few beers etc (but I do like my gaming)

    3. It's OK if you do not have the internet because it means you can have a social life e.g. meeting friends or going out with the family instead of staring at a screen all day

    1. haha, it's not that we are far behind with technology.. well we are maybe a little bit since we have much slower internet. But the fact that we have a much more social lifestyle. Allot of proper Aussies have a much more prefer a simpler life, barbies in the sun with your mates watching footie (Aussie football not European soccer) having a few VB's (Aussie beer) so i couldn't imagine that that could of changed in the last 4 years, it goes against the Aussie way of life.
