Potential threats posed by IT

I read yesterday that David Cameron wants to block IM services such as Whatsapp, Snapchat and Imessage  due to the fact that they use encrypted software so that they cannot be interfered without by outside entities such as the government, even with a warrant. The companies of these IM services want to remain true to the values of their privacy agreement, therefore government agencies and such cannot snoop on your conversations. Not that this is really a bad thing, but it does leave a crack in the security of our countries. It seems that terrorist groups are using these services to organize their attacks and with two attacks very recently in Australia and France maybe by allowing government agencies the ability to snoop in on these services it could have saved lives, anything that can potentially save lives is a good idea to me, let me know what you think about this and drop me a comment.

social impact on those without access to the internet.

I would like to write a big long post about how much those without the internet and how they are missing out on all the amazing benefits on the internet, but the more I rack my brain about the topic the more that word “social” pops into my mind. In my opinion, there is only social benefit from not having the internet. Before moving to the UK I did not have a computer, laptop, iphone, internet etc. Nor did most of my mates, we spent our times going out and socializing, playing sport, going to the beach or just chilled out with a small group of mates talking S*%# for hours on end. The only time we would look at our phones would be to answer a call or to read a text, not like today were everyone sits on their phones in a room and call that socializing, to actually meet someone you would actually meet them, not friend them on social media. So at the end of the day, I preferred my social lifestyle before I got the internet. Let me know what you think and comment back.

social impact of IT on communities.

There is no doubt about it; ITC affects us all as individuals and communities. We as community have become reliant on IT, as the years have gone by IT has evolved and we with it. I mean seriously could you imagine a world without it? I dare not. IT saves us so much time and effort; at our fingertips we can do your shopping, keep in touch with friends, get up to date news. Not to mention the CCTV all around the UK which dropped UK crime rate dramatically... the list goes on and on with so many benefits. But is it making us dumber as a collective? Will it affect our future generations? By becoming so reliant on the internet are we forgetting what it really means to be human. I grew up in the transition of the internet being released, back when people of communities knew each other, but as the internet has advanced and social Medias, forums etc. Have become fashionable, the younger generations are more focused on “online communities” and less on the real communities. It is the real communities were you gain social skills, core values and respect. Anyways, let me know what you think and hit me a comment.

Social impact of IT on individuals

Today I will be writing about the double edged sword that is technology and its social impact on individuals. Technology has many benefits in today’s society, especially mobile phones. “There is an app for that” has become an increasingly true fact as more and more apps come out, just today I have found out that there is an app that can check your sugar level for people with diabetes, I have absolutely no idea how it works but it sounds pretty amazing. But due to smart phones and all these amazing things that they can do, people have become reliant on them. Using them consistently in their everyday life and even becoming unsociable in the company of others without even realizing it, these great devices distract us and stop us focusing on the people in front of us. I find that the video I have attached to this blog portrays perfect examples of my opinion on the social impact on individuals. And as I do not own a smart phone myself, I can relate to the lady in the video. Next time you are out with your mates, make a game out of it, see who can go the longest without checking their phone and whoever goes on their phone first can buy a round of drinks for everyone. Feel free to leave a comment about how you feel about this topic.
